Wed, 18 February 2009 ![]() Time to strike the set... Episode #18 "Connect Four" answers:
The theme was "songs performed for charity". "Switchboard" prize round answers: Column A Column A Column A Column A Column A Out of the two entries that I had for this game, the one that got all of the pairings exactly right was Steve from Syracuse, NY. The other entry got all but one pairing correct, so well done to you too. Since the show’s popularity and listenership hasn’t really grown in the four months that I’ve been hosting it, despite all of my promotional efforts, and along with other reasons, I have decided to make this episode the final episode of Classic Music Trivia. Thank you for listening and for your words of encouragement. I will keep the weblog and e-mail account active for a couple of weeks so that you can download any past episodes before they go away. You can leave me an e-mail at cmtquizmaster@gmail.com if you wish and I’ll respond as soon as I can. So as the saying goes, “I’ll see you around the galaxy”. Take care, and all my best. Thu, 12 February 2009 ![]() It's a Valentine's Day special! If you are looking for the photo of the custom-made tee shirt that my partner Tommy made as the prize for "Switchboard", I don't have one to show yet since Tommy hasn't completed the shirt yet. We thought he'd have it done in time for publishing, but alas, not yet. As soon as it's ready, I'll take a photo of it and post. This week's background music is called "Love Is A Many Splendid Thing" by "The Fascinating Strings" from their album "Musical Memories" released in 2006. Comments[0] |
Thu, 5 February 2009 ![]() Introducing a new game called "Switchboard". As I mentioned in Show 15, one of the things I want to try with CMT is a random prize round, emphasizing again that the prizes would be good ones – prizes you’d want to play for. Well in today’s episode I’ve done just that. But remember I said you’d have to answer some questions to win, because the lucky winner will get either a custom-made slip-over shirt crafted by your friends here at CMT, or a $20 gift voucher from Amazon.com to spend any way you like – we’re not certain yet which one, but I’ll let you know for sure on the next episode. Also as promised last week, I have another new game for us to play, and it’s a prize round called “Switchboard”. For this game, I presented 2 sets of clips and you have to connect a clip from one set (let’s call it “Column A”) to its matching clip in the second set (let’s call it “Column B”). Since this is a random prize round, I’ll collect all the entries and reveal the correct answers in Show 19. This will allow you time to e-mail me your answers to as many pairings as you can. The one who gets the most pairings right wins the prize. And in the case of multiple winners, a random drawing will be held on Show 19 to determine the winner. Funtime Freddy. Comments[0] |

Still, I hope you were able to find the missing link! Join me next week for yet another new game we call "Switchboard". It promises to be interesting and fun, so stay tuned! Also, tell me what you think of "Missing Link" and whether I should continue the game or not. Let me know via voice mail at (206) 666-3875 at any time or via e-mail to cmtquizmaster@gmail.com. Thu, 18 December 2008 ![]() Let's go "off the board for a hundred" and let me tell you a story using classic songs! Episode #9 "Connect Four" answers:
The theme was "International Song Titles". This week's Storytime in Song: The weather was spectacular and I was in too good a mood to be stuck at home. So, I decided to “Walk on the Wild Side” (1972 by Lou Reed) by “Taking it to the Streets” (1976 by The Doobie Brothers). I headed across the “59th Street Bridge (Feelin' Groovy)” (1966 by Simon and Garfunkel) and ended up at "Macarthur Park” (1978 by Donna Summer) where everyone was “Get Up Offa That Thing (Dancing in the Street)" (1993 - originally 1964 - by Whoopi Goldberg and cast of “Sister Act 2: Back In The Habit” - originally performed by Martha and the Vandellas). From there, I walked down the “Boulevard” (1980 by Jackson Browne) to “Baker Street” (1978 by Gerry Rafferty) to watch the sunset over the “Playground in my Mind” (1973 by Clint Holmes). As darkness fell, the neighborhood lit up, and I headed home down this “Electric Avenue” (1983 by Eddie Grant). Join me next week for my very special Christmas episode! Comments[0] |

Fri, 21 November 2008 ![]() A change in format this episode introduces an audience participation game called "Connect Four", but instead of the classic table game where you connect four checker-like disks of the same color, you get to try and connect four songs using only their titles that connects them. After hearing the show and the "Connect Four" songs, if you think you know what the connection is, call me at (206) 666-3875 or e-mail me your answer at cmtquizmaster@gmail.com. I'll play as many voice mail answers as I can on the next show as well as reveal the connection for this episode. If you do call or write, please give me a name and where you are from. I think it's interesting knowing where my listeners are hailing from. Thank you!! Funtime Freddy Comments[0] |

Sun, 19 October 2008 ![]() Rainbow Colors and Spell the Beans! Welcome to my very first episode, my pilot episode. This is the newest trivia podcast to hit the cybernet waves, but what makes this show unique is that it features music, television and movie trivia from the mid-1960's to the late 80's, and era we like to call "classic". The show is really quite simple in structure: it's divided into two parts. Part One consists of five classic music questions and a classic television question which all surround a theme. The second part also consists of five classic music questions, but then I follow that with a classic movie question - all sourrounding a different theme than Part One. Finally I reveal the answers. This week's show surrounds two themes. Part One's theme is called "Rainbow Colors" meaning that a color will appear in either the name of the song or in the artist's name. The TV question includes a color in the title of the program. Part Two surrounds the theme called "Spell the Beans" where you will need to spell a part of the answer. This also goes for the movie question. ~~~~~~~~~~ If you'd like to contact me you can send an e-mail to cmtquizmaster@gmail.com or leave a voice mail message by calling (206) 666-3875. The theme song "Back to Disco" is a podsafe work created by AjT. Web sources used for questions and answers come from www.allmusic.com, www.imdb.com, www.tv.com, and www.wikipedia.com. Other sources include Billboard Magazine publications and other printed materials. All music, television and movie sound clips are used under the U.S. Fair Use doctrine for the purpose of education and instruction on a limited basis. Comments[1] |
